Google's new privacy policy takes effect

Google's new privacy policy takes effect despite concerns.

The changes mean Google will now save data and searches from users' accounts -- such as Google.com, Gmail, and YouTube -- in one place.
"As we understand it, the policy changes do not mean that Google is collecting more information about its users than it currently does. They do, however, mean that you are going to be using the information in new ways - ways that may make some users uncomfortable," Canada's privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart wrote.
The commissioner strongly recommends Google make the options for users to change their privacy preferences more clear. She also said it wasn't explained how long it will take personal information to be deleted when requested by a subscriber.
Users can't completely opt out of the new policy if they want to continue using Google services.
The tussle over data privacy comes at a delicate time for Google, whose business model is based on giving away free search, e-mail, and other services while making money by selling user-targeted advertising.

App announces your Death on Facebook

Imagine a new App to announce your death.

Who would use this new App? Perhaps that  might be determined by whether you are a public or more private person. Those who want everyone to know everything about themselves  would problably consider this new service. Since others could write on their page freely, those very private individuals may feel that they don't want 'everything and more' about themselves viewed by others. Also cost may be a factor. If it is free or costs little, it may be favored over placing an obituary in the paper. As for myself, I think it needs further consideration, but at this time I probably would not use this service.

Playing Diablo over Family Day Weekend

My brother is spending the winter in France and Spain this year. We normally log on to Diablo 11 with  two other gamers from California and Washington State every week. This past Monday our  usual gaming afternoon we added another player from France. It was so much fun having that many players. Here is a picture and a link to a short video. I'm looking forward to Diablo 111 coming out soon.

The other Brother

Oscar is Maxi's brother. He is extremely shy, but lately since I lost Squirt, my calico, he is starting to
hang around us more. You cannot rush animals. They will respond to you when they are
ready and feel comfortable enough. We are trilled that he is coming around.

My Cat Maxi

Sharing my picture of Maxi
He was one of two brothers that I adopted. They were both stray kittens  that hung around my backyard and were looking for a home. I took them both in, so that they could stay together. They turned out to be two sweet and loving cats.
Lucky me!

Day Two - Update

It's surprising how quickly one can forget this stuff.
Ayumi, a fellow student, has helped me navigate through some of this blogger stuff. She is so generous with her time. So is Simon.

My Blog - Day One

This is the first post created by me to start my Blog. Wow this seems so different from the last blog I created two years ago.
